Aave, Fulcrum, Compound, dYdX

Beginner’s Guide to Exchanges – Part 1

Beginner’s Guide to Exchanges – Part 1

Hola Compadres! It is me u/poop_dragon here with another guide. Today I would like to run through a list of ETH exchanges. This is just Part 1 of this list, and it covers established exchanges. Soon I will post Part 2 and 3 which will go into some other types of exchanges (derivative markets, coin converters, decentralized, and foreign exchanges) Side note, I have given rating to these exchanges based on some comparisons, news, and information which I have found online. Recently, EVERY exchange has been slow/unresponsive in their customer service due to the huge influx of new users. My intention is to help educate new users about the exchanges available. I am not trying to discredit, advertise, pump up, or damage reputations. If you feel something is inaccurate, please respectfully bring it up in the comments. I will be editing as we go. Last thing of note, I have only included the lowest level trading tier to calculate trading fees, which assumes the highest rates. Most exchanges offer lower fees for bigger orders, but I have gone with the assumption that everyone here is not dropping whale amounts of cash.

For USA Taxes on Crypto, Is This Right? Why Haven't I Seen This Before?

Posting this under a throwaway for obvious reasons but as Tax-Day is here in the USA tomorrow I wanted to get the BCH community feedback on something that occurred to me today.
With all the fear mongering that's been fudded around about taxes on 2017 crypto profits, now finally after I've done the paperwork it seems to me that unless someone is already in a high income bracket, there is a very likely real possibility that for a lot of people, their actual capital gains tax on any amount of crypto profit is 0%
Point being, if your ordinary income (non crypto investment just from your job or business or whatever) for married filing jointly is under like $75,000 for the year, then you're in the under 10-15% marginal tax bracket and in that case "long term capital gains" tax rate is ZERO = 0% = No Tax.
So they can go ahead and drill down thru all the coinbase and poloniex and bittrex and binance trades transactions transfers etc etc etc all they want, the government can go ahead and waste time and auditor money analyzing shit forever in a thousand audits of everyone in this space, but 0% of anything is still ZERO.
Right? Or I'm missing some other more important info here?

Sommario

Introduzione

l'impero è in fiamme, il nuovo gioco in città è l'"asset digitale".

https://preview.redd.it/wyipyuh0i3m11.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d8c8c1e1fcd58d3ead578e28804451288917ade4

Sorry for the wall-o-text gents, they be censoring around here.
Alright, we've given these SOBs enough time to shed some light, time to let the conspiracy theories fly, people. I'm calling this what is plain to my eyes; a blatant theft and diversion by BFX management and associated cronies. They couldn't possibly be this negligent in storing USERS bitcoins (NOT theirs, this socialized loss thing is really irritating. I don't care what you people say about the bitcoins not being yours once they leave your wallet.), could they? Just as other "hacks" before it, the simplest answer, is they are running with the money and attempting to divert attention and blame elsewhere while under the guise of potentially continuing operations. With the nature of crypto and the internet, the "unknown" factor alone introduces enough complexity to ever catch these thieves "red handed". I wholeheartedly believe they are coming back online (at least genuinely try to, withdrawals are another story), and I will tell you why below.
They knew full well about the precedent that Gox has set in the industry, and are using that to their advantage to get their clients (sheep) to accept losses as the alternative to drawn out litigation and potentially even LESS money should they refuse to take the immediate offer. All the while, shifting blame to this individualized wallet crap. If you've ever watched these BitGo wallets move funds, it's definitely not real-time and I have had a hard time following what was happening behind the scenes during "settlement" as Zane had pointed out, occurring once a day. The wallets don't show up in my BitGo account. I set up the wallet per BFX instructions by email. My audit log states that bitfinex is authorized to create wallets in my name, yet I can only follow the coin based on my deposit address and they do not show as MY wallets under BitGo, though I still got emails with referencing what I'm guessing is my individual customer account and coins being moved. We'll see what kind of reasoning and methodology they have in place when shit hits the fan and users can see their adjusted balances.
So how in the world are they going to make all these angry people happy and avoid the inevitable legal hassle that will ensue? In my situation, I can see my bitcoins have not moved from the multi-sig wallets, and deposits made after the hack, but before shut down, are still there, but I'm sure I'm going to get whacked (100% positive). My open positions that are UNRELATED to bitcoin in any way, are going to get closed in a less-than-advantageous manner, when according to their reasoning about individualized accounts, my orders should not be affected, at all. But who cares about that at this point, what about the people that are going to get a severe haircut as implied by Zane, such as those that lent out USD to BTC shorts, or people that just plainly had bitcoin sitting idle? Obviously, they KNOW that if they don't offer some kind of financial incentive, there are more than enough disgruntled clients to tie them up in legal battles in whatever jurisdiction they can worldwide, if not outright force bankruptcy and the liquidation of funds and distribution akin to the Gox situation.
What are they going to offer these clients that have suffered tangible loss due to their own negligence (Yes, I'm claiming negligence at this point. The sum of money left basically exposed alone justifies this in my eyes)? Free trading? If you are already trading large sums, your tier allows fees low enough that this is near negligible for market makers. Toss that idea in the bin. Not to mention the loss of confidence and drop in legitimate trade volume (fees) that will follow, creating a situation for much slower potential repayment to those owed money (slower meaning trending towards never). Ideas have also been thrown out to just charge fees to new money/clients walking through the door, but really, this doesn't seem likely. Does it...?
Enter - the rumored BFX coin. The coin that will be distributed as a form of equity ownership of the debt that increases up to face value over time, or even true ownership of operations that pays dividends from fees and associated endeavors. I bet they instantly enable margin trading on this one, LOL. As we have seen with new "hot" coins like ethereum (Which honestly is going to leave many with empty pocketbooks when the smoke clears. DAO and "smart contracts" have already exposed its fatal flaws. Complicated solutions to simple problems, but enough about that.), and finex supporting coins such as these (ETC??? C'mon, that goes against crypto idealism. The old fork should die and remain dead after consensus is reached. Doesn't mean you can't trade it, though.), we know they can stir up volume simply by introducing a new "hot" coin to the market. Finex management clearly knows this, and there will be no shortage of dodgy exchanges willing to list it (looking right at you, Poloniex). It will be pumped, it will be dumped, and the claws of the scam-within-a-scam will sink deeper, until all the blood is drained.
In my conspiracy theory narrative, Zane plays the role of shepherd, guiding the sheep to their eventual slaughter. You can already see how everyone here on reddit has capitulated, and are fighting each other for the scraps (My coins are unaffected, so screw you. Wahhhh! I lost money, so everybody should. Blah blah blah). I don't think Zane even knows his true role in this yet, to be honest. He would be A LOT more careful with his words if he were complicit in the scam. By Zane's own admission, they have no real corporate office presence, multiple corporate entities (HK, BVI, USA, WTF), and employees are scattered around the world; a true jurisdictional nightmare, and this is not by accident. Everything from information to funds becomes difficult to retrieve, as well as put those responsible in jail, wherever that may be. Really, do you think the culprits are going to care if the company eventually folds at this point? They've deflected enough blame and introduced enough plausible deniability at this point that they can escape unscathed should the circumstances play out. They already hit the mega-millions jackpot, and this jackpot happens to be in internet GOLD.
Of course, all of this is pure conjecture, speculation, and finger-pointing. It's just what I would do, if I were still an evil genius.
