Forex Trading in Kenya.

Someone posted on here a few days ago asking about forex and forex trading in Kenya, I have gone through the responses and clearly, most people don’t have an idea. It is 3am in the morning and am in a good mood so let me make this post. This will be a comprehensive and lengthy post so grab a pen and paper and sit down. We’ll be here a while.
FIRST OF ALL, who am I..?
I am a forex trader, in Nairobi, Kenya..i have been actively involved in forex since I found out about it in Feb 2016 when I somehow ended up in a wealth creation seminar (lol) in pride inn Westlands, the one close to Mpaka Rd. Luckily for me, it was not one of those AIM global meetings or I’d be on Facebook selling God knows what those guys sell. I did not take it seriously till August of the same year and I have been active ever since.
I don’t teach, mentor or sell a course or signals, I trade my own money. I am also posting from a throwaway account because I don’t want KRA on my ass.
What the fuck is forex and forex trading.
In simple plain English, forex is like the stock market but for currencies. Stock Market = Shares, forex = currencies. If you want more in-depth explanation, google is your friend.
These currencies are pegged on specific countries, united states- dollar, UK- pound, euro zone- euro, Switzerland- Swiss franc, Kenya- Kenya shilling.. you get the point. Now, there are specific events and happenings between these economies that affect the movement and values of the currencies, driving their value (purchasing power up and down). Forex trading exploits these movements to make money. When the value is going up, we buy and vice versa (down –sell)
Is forex trading illegal in Kenya? Is it a scam?
Illegal, no. scam, no. All the banks in the world do it (KCB made about 4 billion from trading forex in 2019)
Have there been scams involving forex in Kenya?
Yes. Here is one that happened recently. This one is the most infamous one yet. Best believe that this is not the end of these type of scams because the stupidity, greed and gullibility of human beings is unfathomable.
However, by the end of this post, I hope you won’t fall for such silliness.
What next how do I make it work..?
Am glad you asked. Generally, there are two ways to go about it. One, you teach yourself. This is the equivalent of stealing our dad’s car and hoping that the pedal you hit is the brake and not the accelerator. It is the route I took, it is the most rewarding and a huge ego boost when you finally make it on your own. Typically, this involves scouring the internet for hours upon hours going down rabbit holes, thinking you have made it telling all your friends how you will be a millionaire then losing all your money. Some people do not have the stomach for that.
The second route is more practical, structured and smarter.
First Learn the basics. There is a free online forex course at www.babypips.com/learn/forex this is merely an introductory course. Basically it is learning the parts of a car before they let you inside the car.
Second, start building your strategy. By the time you are done with the babypips, you will have a feel of what the forex market is, what interests you, etc. Tip..Babypips has a lot of garbage. It is good for introductory purposes but not good for much else, pick whatever stick to you or jumps at you the first time. Nonsense like indicators should be ignored.
The next step is now the most important. Developing the skill and building your strategy. As a beginner, you want to exhaust your naivety before jumping into the more advanced stuff. Eg can you identify a trend, what is a pair, what is position sizing, what is metatrader 4 and how to operate it, what news is good for a currency, when can I trade, what are the different trading sessions, what is technical analysis, what is market sentiment, what are bullish conditions what is emotion management, how does my psychology affect my trading (more on this later) an I a swing, scalper or day trader etc
Mentors and forex courses.. you have probably seen people advertising how they can teach and mentor you on how to trade forex and charging so much money for it. Somehow it seems that these people are focused on the teaching than the trading. Weird, right..? Truth is trading is hard, teaching not quite. A common saying in the industry is “Those who can’t trade, teach” you want to avoid all these gurus on Facebook and Instagram, some are legit but most are not. Sifting the wheat from the chaff is hard but I did that for you. The info is available online on YouTube, telegram channels etc. am not saying not to spend money on a course, if you find a mentor whose style resonates with you and the course is reasonably priced, please, go ahead and buy..it will cut your learning curve in half. People are different. What worked for me might not work for you.
Here are some nice YouTube channels to watch. These guys are legit..
  1. Sam sieden
  2. Cuebanks
  3. TheCoinFx
  4. The trading channel
  5. Astro
  6. Forex family
  7. Wicksdontlie
Advanced stuff
  1. ICT
After a short period of time, you will be able to sniff out bs teachers with relative ease. You will also discover some of your own and expand the list. Two tips, start with the oldest videos first and whichever of these resonates with you, stick with till the wheels fall off.
How long will it take until things start making sense
Give yourself time to grow and learn. This is all new to you and you are allowed to make mistakes, to fail and discover yourself. Realistically, depending on the effort you put in, you will not start seeing results until after 6 months. Could take longeshorter so there is no guarantee.
Social media, Mentality, Psychology and Books
Online, forex trading might not have the best reputation online because it takes hard work and scammers and gurus give it a bad name. However, try to not get sucked into the Instagram trader lifestyle as it is nowhere close to what the reality is. You will not make millions tomorrow or the day after, you might never even make it in this market. But that is the reality of life. Nothing is promised, nothing is guaranteed.
Your mentality, beliefs and ego will be challenged in this market. You will learn things that will make you blood boil, you will ask yourself daily, how is this possible, why don’t they teach this in school..bla bla bla..it will be hard but growth is painful, if it wasn’t we’d all be billionaires. Take a break, take a walk, drink a glass of whatever you like or roll one..detox. Chill with your girl (or man) Gradually you will develop mental toughness that will set you up for life. Personally, I sorta ditched religion and picked up stoicism. Whatever works for you.
Psychology, this is unfortunately one of the most neglected aspects of your personal development in this journey. Do you believe in yourself? Can you stand by your convictions when everyone is against you? Can you get up every day uncertain of the future? There will be moments where you will question yourself, am I even doing the right thing? the right way? It is normal and essential for your growth. People who played competitive sports have a natural advantage here. Remember the game is first won in your head then on the pitch.
Books: ironically, books that helped me the most were the mindset books, Think and grow rich, trading for a living, 4 hour work week, the monk who sold his Ferrari..just google mindset and psychology books, most trading books are garbage. Watch and listen to people who have made it in the investing business. Ray Dalio, warren, Bill Ackman and Carl Icahn.
This is turning out to be lengthier than I anticipated so I’ll try to be brief for the remaining parts.
Brokers
You will need to open up an account with a broker. Get a broker who is regulated. Australian ones (IC Market and Pepperstone) are both legit, reliable and regulated. Do your research. I’d avoid local ones because I’ve heard stories of wide spreads and liquidity problems. International brokers have never failed me. There are plenty brokers, there is no one size fits all recommendation. If it ain’t broke..don’t fix it.
Money transfer.
All brokers accept wire transfers, you might need to call your bank to authorize that, avoid Equity bank. Stanchart and Stanbic are alright. Large withdrawals $10k+ you will have to call them prior. Get Skrill and Neteller if you don’t like banks like me, set up a Bitcoin wallet for faster withdrawals, (Payoneer and Paypal are accepted by some brokers, just check with them.)
How much money can I make..?
I hate this question because people have perceived ceilings of income in their minds, eg 1 million ksh is too much to make per month or 10,000ksh is too little. Instead, work backwards. What % return did I make this month/ on this trade. Safaricom made 19.5% last year, if you make 20% you have outperformed them. If you reach of consistency where you can make x% per month on whatever money you have, then there are no limits to how much you can make.
How much money do I need to start with..?
Zero. You have all the resources above, go forth. There are brokers who provide free bonuses and withdraw-able profits. However, to make a fulltime income you will need some serious cash. Generally, 50,000 kes. You can start lower or higher but if you need say 20k to live comfortably and that is a 10% return per month, then you can do the math on how big your account should be. Of course things like compound interest come into play but that is dependent on your skill level. I have seen people do spectacular things with very little funds.
Taxes..?
Talk to a lawyer or an accountant. I am neither.
Family? Friends?
Unfortunately, people will not understand why you spend hundreds of hours watching strangers on the internet so it is best to keep it from them. Eventually you will make it work and they will come to your corner talking about how they always knew you’d make it.
The journey will be lonely, make some trading buddies along the way. You’d be surprised at how easy it is when people are united by their circumstances (and stupidity) I have guys who are my bros from South Africa and Lebanon who I have never met but we came up together and are now homies. Join forums, ask questions and grow. That is the only way to learn. Ideally, a group of 5-10 friends committed to learning and growth is the best model. Pushing each other to grow and discovering together.
Forex is real and you can do amazing things with it. It is not a get rich quick scheme. If you want a quick guaranteed income, get a job.
And now it is 5am, fuck.
This is oversimplified and leaves out many many aspects.
Happy to answer any questions.

What happened to my BTC??!!

I’ll try to make it brief.
I use Blockchain.
I had purchased bitcoins from them twice, went smoothly. Whenever I buy btc from them, they go into that wallet with a lock called “Bitcoin Trading Wallet”. I then need to transfer those funds into my “Bitcoin Wallet” before being able to send them to anyone.
This morning, I wanted to send 500$ worth of BTC from my “Bitcoin Trading Wallet” to my “Bitcoin Wallet” in order to be able to use them for transactions. The process did not work, I was on the app. I tried doing so on browser, so ok the safari app.
However, I needed to log in, and as I used to always log in with my 4 number digits through the Blockchain app, I had forgotten my password. I then clicked on the option to recover my funds. I used my 12 words to recover my password and managed to access my account. When I did, my 500$ were gone. Completely, nowhere to be seen.
I would like to know what happened to my money. Is it lost forever? Is there a way to get it back? I really need help.

TESLA 5:1

For Trading August 12th
TSLA 5:1 SPLIT
GOLD / SILVER COLLAPSE
DJIA CLOSES 450 OFF HIGH
Today’s market got off to a slightly higher start on DJIA and S&P-500 but general weakness in the NASDAQ, again. By the end of the day the DJIA -104.53 (.38%) was well off its +363 high and the NASDAQ was the big loser -185.54 (1.69%). The S&P 500 was -26.78 (.80) after being withing a few dollars of a new high, the Russell -9.57 (.6%), and the only winner the DJ Transports +24.59 (.23%). Market internals were 1:1 on the NYSE but 1.5:1 down on the NASDAQ. Volume was slightly higher than average for an August day. The major feature of the day was the massive selloff in the precious metals. Gold was down $125/oz. at the low and finished $1946.30 -93.40 (6%) while the Silver was lower by $3.21 to $26.049 after hitting an intraday low of $24.48. The change at the close was 12%. I would assume that we would see some follow-thru tonight and tomorrow early, but I bought the NEM September $65 / 70 call spread for $1.45. This is basically the same trade I made last month on the August expo $60/65 spread @ $1.30 that we sold @ $3.20. We also had the TBT 9/18 15 calls @ $ .40 that we sold today half @ $ .68, and the second half @ $ .74 just before they fell back to $ .55. Not bad, with YTD now back to +34%.
Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/EvsCZy_K1sw
SECTORS: We didn’t have much corporate news today but QCOM won an appeals court ruling on an anti-trust case and the stock ignored the selloff and finished the day $108.83 +2.47 (2.3%). That made it a standout as the rest of technology was hit hard again today. It was the 3rd day down for the NASDAQ since its new closing high at $11,108.07 last Thursday. The biggest news of the late day was the announcement that TESLA (TSLA) declared a 5:1 stock split. While this is really just straight arithmetic, it does create some demand for the shares now, since when the stock split becomes effective at the end of August you would have 5 times the shares at 1/5 of the price. But it does promote the purchase of “round lots” as opposed to “odd lots.” Does it really increase demand? Not really, but most stocks (like AAPL) do seem to rise on the news. TSLA certainly did, closing $1374 -44, and then on the news rallied to its current $1467.20, over $90 higher. FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was LOWER with TSN +.82, BGS -.46, FLO +.20, CPB -.63, CAG -.49, MDLZ -.49, KHC -.16, CALM +.19, JJSF -.35, SAFM +2.10, HRL -.31, SJM -.84, PPC +.27, KR -.58, and PBJ #33.32 -.37 (1.13%).
BIOPHARMA was LOWER with BIIB -10.32, ABBV +.19, REGN -9.38, ISRG -8.00, GILD +.35, MYL +.39, TEVA -.07, VRTX -6.87, BHC +.16, INCY -1.32, ICPT -.25, LABU -6.96, and IBB $132.28-2.59 (1.92%). CANNABIS: was LOWER with TLRY -.95, CGC -.54, CRON -.06, GWPH -3.52, ACB -.14, NBEV -.02, CURLF -.38, KERN -.29, and MJ $12.95 +.01 (.08%).
DEFENSE: was HIGHER with LMT +3.03, GD +2.94, TXT -.18, NOC +6.27, BWXT +.22, TDY +1.75, RTX +.16, and ITA $172.14 +.91 (.53%).
RETAIL: was HIGHER with M -.16, JWN +.07, KSS +.55, DDS +.66, WMT -1.33, TGT -1.22, TJX +1.08, RL +1.77, UAA +.27, LULU -8.95, TPR +.12, CPRI +.31, and XRT $50.60 -.39 (.76%).
FAANG and Big Cap: were LOWER with GOOGL -12.81, AMZN -63.15, AAPL -10.52, FB -5.50, NFLX -14.89, NVDA -10.20, TSLA +50.43, BABA +.87, BIDU +.08, CMG -11.00, CAT +1.23, MSFT -3.,85, BA +.98, DIS +1.86, and XLK $112.00 -1.42 (1.25%). PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE PRICES ARE LATE MARKET QUOTES AND DO NOT REPRESENT THE 4:00 CLOSES.
FINANCIALS were HIGHER with GS +2.42, JPM +3.58, BAC +.47, MS +1.22, C +1.17, PNC +3.32, AIG +.52, TRV +.80, AXP +1.70, V +1.46, and XLF $25.31 +.29 (1.16%).
OIL, $41.61 -.33. Oil was higher in last night’s trading before we rallied in the morning on news of production cutbacks from Iraq. The stocks were HIGHER with XLE $38.20 -.13 (.34%).
GOLD $1,946.30 -93.40, was a continuation rally and a new recovery high of $2,089.20, but we collapsed and fell as far as $1,919 -124 before coming back slightly. Tonight, we are currently trading lower again at $1,915.70 – 30.00. While I like the gold down here, I will have to wait and see how it acts overnight.
BITCOIN: closed $11,435 -580. After breaking out over $10,000 we have had a “running correction” pushing prices toward $12,000, reaching a recovery high of $12220 yesterday. We had added 350 shares of GBTC @ $10.02 to our position of 400 @ $8.06, bringing our average price to $8.97, but sold 250 shares today @ $13.93. GBTC closed $12.54 -1.15 today.
Tomorrow is another day.

KODK is fishy

For Trading JULY 30th
WHERE THE HELL IS STOCKWATCH?
“FED UNCHANGED”
NAT GAS RALLIES
Added UNG calls and MYL calls and sitting on our gold spreads
Today’s market got off to a positive start and then gained all day. The FED announcement and the press conference had absolutely no effect on the market as did the House Judiciary cross examination of the CEOs of AAPL, AMZN, GOOGL, and FB. There was nothing new discussed as the congressional questioners got on their soapboxes to mug to the TV cameras. As is usually the case on Fed days, the market just drifted higher and when they got what was expected the market added on to the gains. We also had some economic numbers with pending home sales +16.6%, a lower trade deficit (70.6 vs. 75.3Bil), and a slight decline in mortgage applications. DJIA +160.29 (.61%), NASDAQ +140.85 (1.35%), S&P 500 +40 (1.24%), the Russell +30.87 (2.1%) and the DJ Transports +209 (2.16%). Market internals were positive with NYSE 4:1 and NAZ 2:1, with lighter volume in both. The DJIA was 19 up, 11 down with the biggest winners AAPL +49 and UNH +46 DPs and BA -35 DPs.
Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/rQ3eZ4A4gRw
Today’s video on the UNG Trade: https://youtu.be/RBWaSke96O8
Our Discord link is in the video description.
SECTORS: The disgrace of what transpired with KODK should clearly be investigated. A stock whose avg daily volume is 100,000 trades 1.6MM and makes an announcement of major import and trades 260MM and then moves this dramatically deserves a look…A CLOSE LOOK! Then when it moves up 2000% and has to be halted repeatedly for volatility all day and trades in a range of $17.50 TO $60.00. Forget the political side where a major Republican donor is a director and owns 15% of KODK, this kind of action should be investigated. The lack of protection for investors is glaring! If I had bought even 1 of the KODK calls, the SEC would already have called me!!
FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was HIGHER with TSN +1.27, BGS +.51, FLO +.05, CPB -.03, CAG +.34, MDLZ +.82, KHC +.64, CALM -.23, JJSF -1.31, SAFM +.66, HRL +.28, SJM +1.22, PPC -.39, KR -.12, PBJ $33.70 +.44 (1.3%).
BIOPHARMA was MIXED with BIIB -2.99, ABBV +.34, REGN +1.16, ISRG +16.10, GILD -.59, MYL +.86 (5.32% and we own the calls), TEVA +.32, VRTX +.20, BHC +.25, INCY -2.57, ICPT -.30, LABU -2.51, and IBB $137.00 -1.16 (.84%).
CANNABIS: was LOWER with TLRY -.54, CGC -.95, CRON -.25, GWPH +.45, ACB -.87, NBEV +.07, CURLF -.40, KERN +.35, and MJ $13.43 -.32 (2.33%).
DEFENSE: was HIGHER with LMT +.64, GD +.87, TXT +.07, NOC +2.33, BWTX +.22, TDY -.23, RTX -1.60, and ITA $160.27 -1.31 (.81%).
RETAIL: was HIGHER with M +.08, JWN +.10, KSS -.16, DDS +.51, WMT -.97, TGT +.11, TJX +.92, RL +1.33, UAA +.37, LULU +3.11, TPR +.36, CPRI +1.24, and XRT $47.84 +1.32 (2.84%).
FAANG and Big Cap: were HIGHER with GOOGL +23.55, AMZN +45.27, AAPL +7.74, FB +3.74, NFLX -3.51, NVDA +11.13, TSLA +25.51, BABA +4.33, BIDU +4.50, CMG +37.87, CAT +2.64, MSFT +2.03, BA -5.44, DIS -.53, and XLK $107.63 +2.02 (1.91%). PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE PRICES ARE LATE MARKET QUOTES AND DO NOT REPRESENT THE 4:00 CLOSES.
FINANCIALS were HIGHER with GS +1.18, JPM +2.28, BAC +.90, MS +.47, C +1.27, PNC +4.17, AIG +1.85, TRV +1.82, AXP +1.68, V +1.36, and XLF $24.49 +.48 (2%).
OIL, $41.27 +.23. Oil was lower in last night’s trading before we rallied in the morning. I mentioned in last night’s charts with comments section in the Weekly Strategies letter, that it is a toss-up for a move in either direction. The stocks were HIGHER with XLE $37.68 +.77 (2.09%).
GOLD $1,954.50 +10.10. It was a continuation rally and a new recovery high of $1,974.00. I have only the NEM August 65 / 70 spread on in the Gold market. The spread was put on at $1.30 and finished the day @ $2.47.
BITCOIN: closed $11,240 +205. After trading back to 8985 we rallied back to close – only $5. Since last week we have closed between 9200 – 92.85 every day with narrow ranges and today was a good start to move higher. A break over 10,000 still sends us higher. We added 350 shares of GBTC @ $10.02 to our position of 400 @ $8.06, bringing our average price to $8.97. GBTC closed $12.41 -.12 today.
Tomorrow is another day.

For Trading August 13th
TSLA $1,554 +180 (13%)
GOLD / SILVER Recover
CSCO & LYFT MISS #s
Today’s market got off to a slightly higher start on the combination of CPI data and the futures, with all major indexes higher. The NASDAQ was the leader, by far, gaining almost the same point value as the DJIA on an index 60% smaller. At the close the DJIA was +289.93 (1.05%), NASDAQ +229.42 (2.13%), S&P 500 +46.66 (1.4%), the Russell +8.15 (.52%), and the DJ Transports +46.57 (.43%). Market internals were weak with the NYSE only 9:5 UP and the NASDAQ 9:7, and lower volume than yesterday. The DJIA was the same as yesterday, 23:7 but almost the entire gain was in 4 names, AAPL +100DP’s, HD & UNH +46 each, and MSFT +40DP’s while on the downside we had BA-32 and AXP -10DP’s.
Our “open forum” on Discord, which allows me to interact with subscribers and others to allow direct questions and chart opinions on just about any stock, continues to grow with more participants every day. It is informative and allows me to share insights as the market is open and moving. The link is: https://discord.gg/ATvC7YZ and I will be there and active from before the open and all day. It’s a great place to share ideas and gain some insights, and we’ve grown to almost 3000 members. I also did this video over the weekend on a day-trade, (actually 2) that I made in AAPL on Friday. I think it’s highly informative as a guide to under what conditions these kind of trades in expiring options make sense. The link is https://youtu.be/qIV0G-hP3aM Enjoy!!
Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/3T8DnUEKNaY SECTORS: We didn’t have much corporate news today but after the close we had earnings from both CSCO and LYFT with both reporting losses and giving poor guidance. LYFT in particular was just full of bad news telling shareholders that if the Court of Appeals did not strike down the State of California’s ruling that requires their drivers to be considered employees, that they would suspend all operations in Calif., 16% of their total rideshare business. The stock, already down from its high of $88.60 traded as low as $29.75 and is currently $30.10 -.42. Cisco (CSCO) reported a loss and gave poor guidance and this is the glaring difference between “Old” tech and “New” tech. While CSCO has fallen from an all-time high of $76, and a recent high of $58 to close today $48.10 + .91, it traded down to $44.77 and is $45.04 -3.05 or 6.34%. “New” tech stocks like AMD, NVDA, and AVGO are all at new all-time highs and up triple-digits this year. TSLA certainly did, closing $1,554,76 +180.37 (13.1%). FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was HIGHER with TSN +.54, BGS +.53, FLO +.34, CPB +1.19, CAG +.75, MDLZ +.83, KHC +.72, CALM +.23, JJSF +.39, SAFM +.35, HRL +.62, SJM +2.25, PPC -.15, KR +.24, and PBJ $33.89 +.57 (1.69%).

OIL, $42.67 +1.06. Oil was higher in last night’s trading before we rallied in the morning on news of production cutbacks from Iraq. The stocks were HIGHER with XLE $38.58 +.38 (.99%).
GOLD $1,949 +2.70 was a dramatic sell-off taking the gold down as low as $1,874.00 before a rally back to $1,961. While I like the gold down here, I will have to see how it trades for a day or two. I am still a bull on the metal.
BITCOIN: closed $11,665 +230. GBTC closed $13.11 +.56 today.

Bitfinex: Up to US$400 Million Reward for Return of Stolen 2016 Bitcoin

Bitfinex is offering a reward to any persons that connect us with hackers responsible for the unauthorized transfer of almost 120,000 bitcoins from the exchange in August 2016. As part of the same initiative, Bitfinex is also offering a reward to the hackers themselves for the return of the stolen property. This incident is a dark chapter in our exchange's history, and we are pleased to offer this reward as further evidence of our determination to obtain the lost property.
Early in the morning on August 2, 2016, hackers breached the security systems of our exchange. As a result, 2072 unauthorised transactions were broadcast on the Bitcoin network, involving 119,755 bitcoins in aggregate. We have learned valuable lessons from this painful episode, addressing the security issues and vulnerabilities associated with the theft.
Today's announcement of a reward is our latest effort to recover these stolen funds. Those who put Bitfinex in contact with the hacker will receive 5% of the total property recovered (or equivalent funds or assets at current market values), and the hackers will receive 25% of the total property recovered (or equivalent funds or assets at current market values). Any payments made to those connecting Bitfinex with the hackers and the hackers themselves will be classified as costs of recovery of the stolen property.
The aggregate rewards available under this programme could be worth up to approximately US$400 million at the current BTC price if all bitcoins are fully recovered. The bitcoins stolen minus recoveries in 2019 are worth $1.344 billion today, with 30 per cent of that amount equal to $403,288,427.
In order to confirm the identity of the hackers, we will request that 1 Satoshi is sent from the wallet address responsible for the hack to a wallet address specified by Bitfinex. We will work to ensure this can be done safely, thereby protecting the identities of all parties, and Bitfinex reserves the right to impose conditions on any transfers in order to verify claims and ensure a secure process.
As the recent hacking incidents at Twitter and Ledger demonstrate, this type of crime continues to be a threat for all businesses in the digital asset space and the wider technology sphere. No-one in our community can afford to be complacent about the ingenuity of criminal gangs to perpetuate new types of fraud.
Bitfinex has made security the overriding, number one priority of the exchange. As an exchange, we know we owe our success to a customer base that has loyally supported us through good and bad times. In the aftermath of the 2016 security breach, the exchange provided BFX tokens to all affected users. Each token represented $1 of losses. Those BFX tokens started trading on Bitfinex at less than $0.20, and gradually increased in value to almost $1. Monthly redemptions began on September 1, 2016, and the last BFX token was redeemed at the beginning of April 2017. More than 52 million BFX tokens were converted to shares of iFinex Inc. at 1:1 tokens to shares.
We have continued to work with law enforcement agents in investigating the 2016 security breach. In February 2019, U.S. authorities recovered 27.66270285 bitcoins stolen in the 2016 hack, which were converted to U.S. dollars and paid to RRT (Recovery Right Token) Holders.
Those with information relating to the 2016 hack at Bitfinex can contact us at: @bitfinex2016 via keybase.

Bitcoin VS TD Ameritrade

I’m new into stock trading it’s been real fun ever since I opened up my account about a week ago. It’s up and down and I’ve already been up about 225$ and now I’m back down under my original investment . Anyways I’m still learning and it’s been fun so far so here’s my concern :
So this guy at my work comes up to me almost everyday and tells me to get out of the regular stock market trade and invest more into the whole bitcoin gig. He has a list of bitcoin stocks that he told me to invest in but I don’t see any real potential as for me being a new investor I can’t even download and get Binance to work, and honestly I’m having fun with just getting into TD Ameritrade every morning and seeing some action. I feel as though if I don’t download it and invest into some of them I’m getting FOMO and might miss out on some major cash in the future. Is there anyone who thinks or can confirm this? Should I just stick to what I’m doing with the regular stocks and not worry about all that bitcoin stuff through Binance ? Thanks guys

SECTORS: We didn’t have much corporate news today but after the close we had earnings from both CSCO and LYFT with both reporting losses and giving poor guidance. NVAX gets $1.6B from BARDA
Today’s market got off to a very soft start in the DJIA but not so much in the NASDAQ and S&P-500, with the DJIA starting off -240 and managing a rally only as far as -125 before spending several hours going sideways until the last hour of trading when the NASDAQ and S&P ran out of steam and fell below the close and the selloff resumed. It’s never a good thing when and overbought index makes a new all-time high and then closes down and on the lows. The DJIA was -396.85 (1.51%), NASDAQ -89.76 (.86%), S&P 500 -34.30 (1.08%), the Russell -26.89 (1.86%) and the DJ Transports -108 (1.1%). The internals were 3:1 down on NYSE and 2.5:1 on NASDAQ with volume on the NYSE 2:1 down also. The DJIA was 28 down and only 2 up with WMT the big gainer +55 DP’s and on the downside, BA-62, GS -55, and UNH -43DP’s. Even with the good JOLTs number, this market is just over-extended and tired. The stat I mentioned in tonight’s video about the S&P is very telling, I think, with the S&P only 2% off its high, the median S&P stock is down 11%. This market has simply gotten too narrow and it will correct.
We sold half of the remaining NEM 7/17 $60’s bought @ 1.55 and added to last Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94, and today’s sale was @ $3.20. They closed today $3.20. We also own a position in SLV 8/21 17 calls @ $ .74, and they closed $ .75, and we also added a spread using the NEM 8/65 / 70 calls at a $1.30 debit.

Our Discord Forum link is on the video description..
SECTORS: The FAANG names all finished near the lows, several like MSFT coming off a new all-time high and closing down on the day. Not a good sign if they follow-thru to the downside tomorrow. Also having trouble was CCL, who has had to cancel several cruises for Q4 and Q1 2021. It closed $14.57 -1.04 (6.7%). Add to that, the UAL report that it is giving warnings that it will be laying off “10’2 of thousands of employees.” UAL finished $32.55 -2.66 (7.55%). These two companies do not operate in a vacuum, so both groups are in jeopardy, again. Novavax (NVAX) got a $1.6billion grant from BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority) to help it along in it’s search for a workable vaccine. The stock, up from $8 as late as the end of February had worked its way up to $85 last month and opened today $104 and traded as high as $111.77 and finished $104.56 +25.12 (31.63%). Don’t get too crazy with this one, this is not its first rodeo. In 2015 it was trading $300 before it had a failure on a different vaccine and the stock fell to $80 before a rally and then in the week of 9/16/2016 it fell further from $169.80 to $23.20 and then on to the adjusted (1:20 reverse) low around $4.00. We’ll hope for a better outcome this time around. Walmart was the big winner on a RECODE that said they are ready to launch Walmart +, to compete with Amazon Prime for same day grocery delivery and next day for other products. Its move today added 55 DP’s to the averages. I don’t think it’s a big deal since for the same money, with Prime you get streaming too. And the margins on groceries are razor thin.
FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was MIXED with TSN -.67, BGS +.70, FLO -.03, CPB -.11, CAG +.54, MDLZ -.22, KHC +.22, CALM +.03, JJSF -1.43, SAFM +.54, HRL -.14, SJM +.18, PPC -.34, KR -.03, and PBJ $31.56 +.06 (.19%).

OIL, $40.62 -.01. Oil was lower in last night’s trading before we rallied in the morning. I mentioned in last night’s charts with comments section in the Weekly Strategies letter, prices are trying to work higher towards $45.00. We needed a close over the previous high close of $40.83 and while we were there, we sold off to close below that number. The stocks were higher with XLE $36.26 -1.19 (3.18%).
GOLD $1,809.80 +16.40. It was a continuation rally and a new recovery high OF $1807.70 Last night I said “we’ve moved $50 since the low on Friday and while the trend and momentum are positive, we may have to test 1790 to consolidate our gains.” Unfortunately, we pulled back to 1,767 instead. We rallied a bit and finished only slightly better. We bought back the 3rd and final lot of NEM @ $58.86. And, we also added a half position in NEM 7/17 60 calls @ $1.55, and additional 50% @ $1.30 on Friday. We sold half on the 100% Up Rule @ $2.94 and half of what was left today @ $3.20, we closed $3.20 + .80 today.
BITCOIN: closed $9,290 -65. GBTC closed $9.76 - .19 today.
Tomorrow is another day.

My story with the Hong Kong entrepreneur girl from Tinder: A failed scam from m.ctfcoin.cc !!

Hello Reddit,
So my story started about a week ago, on Tinder. I matched with a Chinese girl she told me she is an entrepreneur from Hong Kong, after a casual talk she gave me her WhatsApp number. As soon as we started talking on WhatsApp, she started talking about the pandemic and how things aren't good for businesses then she told me that she found a solution to make money while at home. I didn't ask her how, but she started talking about Bitcoin trading and she gave me a link to m.ctfcoin.cc (I didn't ask and I'm really not interested in any shape or form of trading).
I suspected a scam but I wanted to investigate how it works. She sent me two pictures of her in South Korea to gain my trust. Then she started talking about coming to Paris after the outbreak is finished. Then, she started asking about my life details, how much I make, do I live by myself or with my parents (Some classic social engineering question) and I gave her unexpected answers (I told her that I'm rich), I wanted to see what will be her next move. Despite of my answers (Apparently she wasn't prepared for a rich guy on Tinder), she told me she makes more money and I have to join her on Bitcoin trading. I said I'm not interested, she kept insisting, so I told her that I'll think about it.
That evening I've looked at the domain name on Whois, there isn't much information about the owner but what I've seen is the domain creation date, it is recent and she told me she was trading for 6 months on the ctfcoin.cc. So at this point, I'm sure that it is a scam. But, I wanted to continue to see how it works. Maybe, I could save other people's money.
Next day, she asked me to buy Bitcoins, I played as if I don't know how to use a computer. She asked me to do it while I'm working but I told her that I can't do it on my company network since they have security rules (In fact, I wanted to see if she will stay up until I go back home since there are a 6 hours time difference between Hong Kong and France). She was dedicated, she waited until 7 pm (1 am Hong Kong Time) to make sure I buy Bitcoins. Since she didn't precise from where I have to buy Bitcoins, I told her I bought Bitcoins from my banking app. She told me that she will show me how to use ctfcoin.cc and she asked me to create an account and she gave me a code to add it during the sign up (An affiliation code, apparently they pay by quota and the code identify that I came from her). Of course, I used fake information and a temporary email address to register.
The next day, she kept asking if I transferred the money to ctfcoin.cc. I told her that I don't know how to do it and that I can't do it at work. Same as yesterday, she stayed awake until 1 am Hong Kong time. She asked me to send her a screenshot from my banking app (lol) I sent her a photoshopped banking app interface with 1K € Bitcoins inside, she felt for it.
For the next 3 days, she kept asking if I made the transaction to ctfcoin, and as I said I played as if my grandma, I told her that I'll call the bank and that my banking app doesn't allow me to transfer Bitcoins. Then on Friday, she asked me If I'm available on Saturday (She knows I don't work). She told me she will show me how to properly buy bitcoins. So, she gave me a link to localbitcoins.com.
On Saturday, I told her I don't know how to register an account (Just to see how long she could keep cool). I spent around 4 hours with her sending her screenshots and she replies to show me what to do (She was really dedicated, she didn't lose her temper). Then she showed me how to buy bitcoins from traders. I sent her modified screenshots with "inspect elements" and she didn't suspect anything, I told her that I have to call the bank to make an international transaction (I was watching a movie while she was waiting for the bank confirmation lol). And finally, after about 6 hours, I sent her a modified screenshot with "inspect elements" as if I bought 1K € Bitcoins. It was about 3am in Hong Kong time but she wanted to continue until I transfer supposed 1K € Bitcoins to ctfcoin.cc . I told her that we have to continue tomorrow. She insisted. But, I told her that I'm going out.
On Sunday, early in the morning (apparently as soon as she woke up), she sent me a message asking for a screenshot (At this point she forgot to act or maybe she thought she is smart). So, long story short I was my grandma and I sent her screenshots to show me how to make the transfer then she asked for a screenshot from my wallet on ctfcoin.cc to see if the transaction is done. I sent her a modified screenshot with "inspect elements" as usual with around 1.4K $ (Surprise surprise !!). I asked her if I could start trading. She said it is too dangerous right now and that she will tell me when it's safe to trade.
Today (Monday), she texted me asking for a screenshot from ctfcoin.cc (Apparently they told her that there was no money lol). I told her to wait until I go back home. She waited... She kept asking If I'm home... 1 am Hong Kong time she told me she can't sleep and that there is something wrong with my account. I asked her why she said that the transaction fees were too high. Anyway, I sent her a modified screenshot (I knew it is the last day). She said I modified the screenshot. I told her that I didn't and that I don't trust her anymore, and I asked her to send me a photo with a specific hand gesture to ensure that she was the girl in the first pictures that she sent me. She did but with no faces. But anyway I'm sure that she is a girl. Then, "Game over" time has come.
She thought I was playing her game by her rules. In the end, I did it just to know how the scam works, and I've learned more about the mind of a scammer. You see the biggest problem with scammers is that they think they are smart, they are always in control of the situation. Even when I surprised her with what was happening since the beginning she denied and kept saying "I don't know what you are talking about" then when I started talking about Interpol and I asked her about who manages the scam. she blocked me...
Anyway, that was my story maybe It will help someone because I looked for ctfcoin.cc and there is nothing about it on Google... Finally, please be aware of crypto coins trading scams. They chose crypto money for a reason since it is untraceable. There are many more safe ways to trade. Do your search before putting money on a website. If you find nothing it is not trustworthy.

As promised for a long time now, here's a breakdown mod actions in the past 2 weeks. I've previously done summaries for longer periods, but as it takes a few minutes to resolve each action, i limited the list to 1000 which corresponds to 2 weeks. The time period is roughly between the evenings of 28 April and 12 May.
I'm still busy with the details of the link and post removals. I've been working on this for 2 days now, so it'll take me until the weekend to get through them all. I haven't published the referenced addendum yet.

Bans

There were 8 permabans:
You are a bunch of stinking k####rs. It is going to be great to see all the k####rs die from Covid in the next few months. Viva Covid!!!
There were a few temporary bans. These are usually issued when users ignore multiple requests or warnings about our rules. These are issued in increments of days. It would be useful to issue one for an hour or two, rather than the minimum of 1 day.
Temp bans for abusive language:
Abusive language has been challenged before with accusations of it being anything from "not a school playground" to "1984-era doublethink". It's not acceptable to insult a stranger you're having a conversation with in public, then it's not acceptable to do so here.
Temp bans for misleading content:
And other miscellaneous reasons:
For anyone thinking that we ban whomever our ANC masters tell us to....tell them that I haven't received my kickbacks yet.

Unbans

Beyond the temporary bans coming to an end, there was one permanent ban that was removed, and that was for justluckyme2 who was incorrectly given a permaban, but a temp ban was intended. That was quickly corrected.

Mark submission as spam

This is an action that we use to help train the spam filters. Sometimes we remove spam posts when we should be marking them as spam - which removes the submission as well.
These are sometimes accompanied with bans. We love hearing about everyone's businesses or side hustles, as long as they don't violate reddit's TOS. If you want to but are unsure, send us a modmail. We'll typically direct you to https://www.redditinc.com/advertising

Mark comment as spam

A similar reason, but applies to comments
You might need to use a service like snew to view these.

Approve post

As a part of reddit and our own spam and abuse protection, posts are sometimes caught incorrectly. There are many reasons why a post is incorrectly removed. We aren't told the exact reason for these removals by reddit's spam filters and AutoModerator. While we have our own custom AutoModerator rules (That remove posts to known fake news sites, or flag comments that have some slurs), reddit has their own super-set of AutoMod rules we can't see.
If you can't see your post appearing when looking at the new queue in another browser, then send us a message. We often go through the mod queue which lists removed posts, but might not get to every one.
There were 91 posts approved by moderators. I'll list them in the addendum.

Approve comment

For a similar reason, comments are caught in a filter of sorts. We then approve the comment - if they were incorrectly caught - or confirm removal - if they were correctly caught.
There were 141 comments approved by moderators. I'll list them in the addendum.

Remove post

The very meaning of censorship! No-one likes their content being removed, but we remove posts that don't comply with the sub rules.
There were 346 posts in total removed. 196 of these were removed by AutoModerator for varying reasons. 91 were manually approved by us, a few were confirmed as being spam, but a lot were left as removed. Ideally we should have confirmed removal or approved each of them. Sorry if yours slipped through the cracks. That leaves 150 posts that were removed by moderators.
I'm doing a detailed report on these, so check back later.

Remove comment

You're censoring my views! Comments are generally moderated less than submissions. A post about a vacation in Thailand - for example - might not be relevant, but having a discussion about your Thai vacation in comments is just fine.
There were 302 comments removed. 188 were removed by AutoMod, leaving 113 comments being removed by mods.
I'm doing a detailed report on these, so check back later.

Edit flair

Occasionally someone selects the wrong flair for their post and moderators correct it. There were a few posts whose flair was changed by us:

Distinguish comment or Sticky comment

A moderator can distinguish their comment to appear different to other comments. We normally use them when acting in capacity as a mod, rather than in our own personal capacities (yes, it's possible for these to be distinct). Public removal reasons are distinguished, stickied comments. See addendum for the full list.
There are two ways to provide feedback to why a comment or post was removed. Via a comment, or via modmail. Myself and lengau often do public comments, while other mods send messages. You'll see that some are removed or deleted, because the request (translation, source, etc) was fulfilled.

Lock post or comment

This allows moderators to prevent comments being added to a post or replies made to a comment.
There were no locked posts and a few locked comments. All locked comments were some of the distinguished comments listed in the previous section.

Mute user

This is a feature in modmail - a common messaging system viewable by all mods - that allows communication from a user to be blocked for two days. If we ban a user, there's nothing stopping them from sending us love letters, like the one listed previously. They are often done to stop abusive message being thrown our way for a few days. There were 6 mutes. 3 resulting from permabans, 2 from temporary bans and 1 from a post removal.
Honestly, if we make a mistake with a ban or a removal, don't attack us. Chat with us.

Admin actions

We can see when reddit's admins do moderator actions in our sub. There have been no admin actions in this time period.
In case you're interested, the only action recently listed was performed a month ago, and was the removal of one comment: https://reddit.com/southafrica/comments/fkmczc/walied_josephs_was_in_picknpay_early_this_morning/fktjvcj/

But how can I trust that the data is correct? lovethebacon is clearly a paid ANC agent.

The other mods can verify this information. Use services like snew or removeddit to view removals. And can someone please tell Paul Mashatile that I haven't received my paycheck....ever.
It's worth nothing that different mods have different moderation styles. We don't have a fixed set of guidelines on what should be done in what circumstances, but it's up to each mod to do what they think is best for the sub. If any decision made by the mods should be reversed, let us know, here or in modmail.

I've hit rock bottom financially, and have no idea how I will get through tomorrow.

Hello
I don't really know where to start. A while ago I made a mistake which cost me pretty heavy. I was already in a lot of debt but was actively working to climb out of it. Around that time I had maybe $1,600 (Before bills), and the mistake forced me to hire a lawyer ($1,000 down $5,000 total) and completely flipped my life around. I struggled for months paying bills late, only minimums, selling my belongings. This was all me trying to play bill catch up, getting hit with late payments and trying to climb back out of the hole.
It seemed like I'd get paid, and immediately it was gone, my two credit cards were already maxed ($5,000 total), so I took a small loan from upstart, which was granted surprisingly. The money helped but was just enough to almost bring me and my situation from unbearable to just under manageable, being able to pay off my lawyer in June. I managed to climb up slightly and had gotten to a point where I was still behind, but was learning about p2p crypto transactions. I thought it would be a good way to grind my way back to stability, and with the last $50 before payday, bought bitcoin and started flipping it at about %20 profit, essentially starting the dig deeper in my hole.
I managed to build my balance over a month and managed to get about $300 and put it towards bills and debts (Still receiving my normal employment check of 1500). I stopped p2p trading after doing more research and found that without certain licenses and legal steps, you could be shutdown for laundering and possible fraud. My financial situation last week was looking like I could make it. I get paid this Friday (1500) and had planned on paying mortgage (840 which was due July 1), utilities, water, both overdue credit card payments, and my upstart loan which is already late at $290, and hold my car payment of 380 until mid August payday (due on Aug 7th). I had about 45 dollars in my bank account until then and got an email on Friday about a dispute on the payment processing app "Square".
They told me that back in June I had made a transaction for $494, but now the buyer is disputing it saying that they have no recollection of this. This transaction was back when I was making P2P bitcoin sales, and had sold someone $350 worth of bitcoin for about $494 using a vanilla visa gift card. I luckily still had all the receipts from the transaction and all the required details saved, and handed it over to Square, which they then handed to the bank for further review. I thought of how unfortunate this is to have happened now, but was without a doubt that my evidence would be enough the combat a would be scammer.
I was wrong.
This morning square emailed me saying that $494 was withdrawn from my back as a "Hold" while the dispute is ongoing. I thought it was a joke, and checked my bank account statement to see $-500. I have no idea what to do. I get paid 1500 Friday, and will HAVE to pay mortgage, which will leave me with around 200 dollars due to the overdraft. I still have utilities due, water due, other credit payments due. I can't take any other loan, and I can't request a credit limit raise, no savings, no assets besides small furniture in my home and my bed, which I'm about to sell. I do have an iphone I can try and get rid of but it's in bad condition and I don't know if I would even get anything close enough to get me out of this.
I apologize if this is all over the place, I work a midshift and this news of the dispute has my mind going everywhere rapidly. I understand poor money management and my legal fees got me here, please believe I have been doing what I can to try and get out of this rut. I am posting here trying to get any piece of advice that maybe I overlooked, any solution, anything. I for the first time in my life have literally no clue what to do.

TLDR; Hit a low financially, climbed up slightly over the past year, only to hit absolute rock bottom today with a Square dispute hold of $494, overdrafting my account $-500 with a plethora of bills coming up due.

XOM dropped from the DOw

For Trading August 25th
XOM, PFE, & RTX DROPPED FROM DJIA
More New Highs for NAZ & S&P-500
TSLA TOPS $2,100!!
Today’s market was higher from the start and leveled off around +240 -250 until the last 45 minutes when it powered higher into the close finishing +378.13 (1.35%), NASDAQ +67.92 (.60%), S&P 500 34.12 (1%), The Russell +15.90 (1.03%), and the big winner the DJ Transports +208.17 (1.9%). Internals were positive at 2.5:1 NYSE and 1.4:1 on the NAZ with NYSE volume 5:1 UP ! The DJIA was 5:1 higher and this will be the last time that AAPL will affect the average at the rates of the past since it is price-weighted and AAPL will no be a $100 stock, not $500. The only big loser today was UNH falling $36 DP’s and the gainers BA +74, AAPL +41, and GS +33 DP’s.
Tonight’s closing comment video: https://youtu.be/eMCD4wjOVh4
SECTORS: While it isn’t necessarily my focus, it’s difficult to not key in on TESLA breaking $2,100 today, trading $2129 and then selling off to $1927 before turning back up to close $2014 -35.78 (1.75%). A week ago, someone in the Discord room asked what I thought, and I gave them an opinion that once we closed over $1,643 that we were headed directly to $2,000-2,100 on a straight shot. I really had a high degree of certainty but thought it would take more than 7 trading days to get to that range! The “possible” vaccine news this morning lit a fire under the airlines; AAL +1.28 (10.5%), DAL +2.53 (9.28%), LUV +2.22 (6.4%), and UAL +3.28 (9.9%). Next were the cruise lines with CCL +1.49 (10%), RCL +2.90 (4.7%), and NCHL +1.18 (7.6%). Personally, I don’t see these names holding up with DAL announcing that unless they get further financial assistance that they will have to fire an additional 1941 pilots. These guys just want us to foot the bill for their disgraceful actions when they could have been preparing for a downturn rather than just lined their own pockets and bought back stock. PaloAlto Networks beat both top and bottom lines but gave soft guidance on next quarters revenues and after closing $267.07 -2.26 it fell further to $254.68 -12.77 (4.7%). The big news on the DJIA is that Dow Jones is making 3 major changes. I could be wrong, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen more than one at a time, but here are the names: Salesforce (CRM) replaces XOM, Amgen (AMGN) replaces Pfizer (PFE), and Honeywell (HON) replaces Raytheon (RTX) which also includes UTX.

Another New High for NASDAQ
Video on our new UNG call trade below
Today’s market got off to a positive start and rallied to the high of the day by noon and then spent the afternoon backing and filling and closed pretty close to the day +236.06 (.89%), NASDAQ +157.52 (1.47%), S&P 500 +23.49 (.72%), the Russell +26.38 (1.78%) and the Transports +16.91 (.17%). ISM data was strong with the manufacturing number 54.2, up from 53.4 estimate and 52.6 in June. All around, a pretty good day. AAPL & MSFT were the stars with AAPL +10.71 (2.5%) after its 10.5% rise on earnings last Friday and MSFT +11.53 (5.6%), but the Russell was the highlight and the biggest gainer. The only negative was that there is still no agreement on the next Coronavirus relief bill.

LOEx Market Research Report on August 27: After BTC's slight adjustment, will the bull market still persist?

LOEx Market Research Report on August 27: After BTC's slight adjustment, will the bull market still persist?
[Today's Hot Tips]
1. [Tether official: USDT market value has exceeded $ 13 billion]
Tether official data shows that the market value of Tether (USDT) has exceeded $ 13 billion. Since March 2020, the market value of Tether (USDT) has increased by 160% from $5 billion.
2. [The central parity of RMB against the US dollar is raised to 6.89 USDT, the premium rate is 0.35%]
According to the currency world market, the central parity of RMB against the US dollar rose by 176 points from the previous day to 6.8903. The central parity rose to its highest value since January 23, 2020, the largest increase since August 6, 2020. The onshore RMB exchange rate against the US dollar is now at 6.886, and the OTC offer of USDT' on Boboo.com is 6.91 yuan, with a premium of 0.35%.
3. [Cardano founder shared two sets of ECIP, including ETC funding mechanism and use of checkpoints to defend against 51% attacks]
Cardano founder, Charles Hoskinson, shared two sets of ECIP on Twitter. The first is to implement the original treasury system (p-ECTS) proposal in ETC. The main motivation of p-ECTS is to establish a stable and reliable funding mechanism for independent teams. This proposed change includes adjustments to large rewards so that: 1.80% of block rewards go to miners; 2.20% for p-ECTS smart contract addresses or burning addresses. The second is to use checkpoints as a mechanism to mitigate certain types of 51% attacks. The core idea is to hire a group of external forces to run auxiliary services to ensure the attributes of the ledger, which can be relied on when the invested hash power is low. Once the hash power reaches a level where the attack is no longer financially feasible, the system can be stopped.
[Today's market analysis]
Bitcoin (BTC)BTC shot up for a short time in the early morning and then fell back. It continued to consolidate around 11450 USDT with relatively small fluctuations. Mainstream currencies are adjusted daily. BTC is currently reported at 11400.2 USDT on LOEx Global, an increase of 0.61% in 24h.
The trend of mainstream currencies is sluggish, and the disk is in a relatively weak situation. At this time, it is not recommended to increase the position, just keep holding it if you have a bottom position.
The market trend of the currency market is still sluggish. Recently, the shorts have taken the advantage. They have rubbed the longs on the ground all the way. However, since the last high point of Bitcoin, it has only fallen by about 10% in the past 10 days. Such an amplitude is not worth mentioning in the currency market, and the currency market is moving towards a slow bull trend. Looking at the long term, it is normal for the bull market to pull back frequently, even though this wave of small bull market brought by altcoins looks like a "fake bull market" . However, it cannot be denied that altcoins have indeed brought the market hot. With the rise of DeFi, the application of the combination of the financial field and blockchain technology has landed. This makes the people in the currency circle have a greater daydream about the future application scenarios of blockchain technology. And this wave of cottage prices will then affect the market rhythm next year. But no matter what, only when the application is implemented and there is a real demand can its value be truly realized.
For Bitcoin, the benefits of the general environment have provided a solid bottom support for the price of Bitcoin, which means that it will be difficult to see 3,000 yuan a Bitcoin in the future. Bitcoin with a strong consensus is our primary investment currency, altcoins will eventually be short-lived, and Bitcoin will continue to rise after minor adjustments.
Operation suggestions:
Support level: the first support level is 11000 points, the second support level is 10400 integers;
Resistance level: the first resistance level is 11500 points, the second resistance level is 12000 points.

LOEx Market Research Report on August 26: BTC market sentiment is bearish, testing the support point downward

LOEx Market Research Report on August 26: BTC market sentiment is bearish, testing the support point downward
[Today's Hot Tips]
1. [Researcher of Renmin University of China: The issuance of digital currency broadens the range of options for the original monetary policy]
According to People's Daily Online, Fan Zhiyong, a researcher at the National Institute of Development and Strategy, Renmin University of China, published an article demonstrating the importance of digital currency. He believes:
  1. The issuance of digital currency has broadened the range of options for the original monetary policy. If all physical currencies can be converted into digital currencies, this will make it possible for the central bank to break through the lower limit of zero interest rates and reduce nominal interest rates to negative. In addition, digital currency also provides a new quantitative easing tool. The central bank distributes the same amount of digital currency to every citizen in the form of free payment, which can directly bypass the inefficient financial market during the crisis and improve citizens' ability to consume and repay debts, making it easier to achieve the central bank’s monetary policy goal of stabilizing volatility.
  2. The digital currency can make monetary policy more transparent, which can enhance the effectiveness of the monetary transmission mechanism, reduce internal noise, and strengthen the stability of the system. By adopting the central bank's digital currency, the central bank can establish a fixed price level target specified by a specific price index, thereby providing a durable, credible and transparent nominal anchor for the economic system.
  3. The issuance of digital currency can solve the problem of the reduction of physical cash and bring some seigniorage to the central bank.
Fourth, digital currency can increase the stability of the financial system. From a technical point of view, digital currency allows residents, companies and non-bank financial institutions to directly settle with the central bank's digital currency. This can share part of the settlement functions of commercial banks and reduce the concentration of liquidity and credit risk in the payment system.
  1. The digital currency issued by the central bank can provide a truly risk-free alternative to bank deposits. The shift of residents from holding bank deposits to holding digital cash has reduced part of the demand for government guarantees for deposits and weakened a source of moral hazard in the financial system.
2. [Coinbit, South Korea’s third largest exchange, was seized by the police for alleged market manipulation]
According to Seoul Shinmun, Coinbit, South Korea’s third largest exchange, was seized and investigated by the South Korean police, and its chairman and operator were suspected of internal transactions and manipulation of market prices. [Today's market analysis]
Bitcoin (BTC)BTC dropped to 11262 USDT in the morning and afternoon, and then rebounded slightly. It is currently oscillating around 11350 USDT. Most mainstream currencies fell. BTC is currently reporting 11352.6 USDT on LOEX Global, a drop of 0.61% in 24h.
Yesterday, BTC failed to initiate an effective rebound on the basis of standing at 11500. After a short rise to around 11650, it started a heavy decline in the market, and a large number of positions were sold for several hours until the early hours of this morning. The trend reached a strong support near 11000 and and gained a short-term stability. From the perspective of wave theory, since the currency price started the downward trend at 12,500, the 1-hour level is now coming out of the third wave of the three downward waves. Since the downward trend has only stabilized for a few hours, it is still unclear whether the third wave has passed. On the other hand, since 11000 is the strongest support since the currency price broke through 10500, it can also be regarded as the last line of defense in the bull market. If the market outlook continues to drop below this point, the probability means that the last wave of the three downward waves has not yet been reached. At the end, there may even be extended waves. On the other hand, if the intraday rebound can stand firm at 11400 or the second test of 11000 gains support again, it will increase the anticipation of bargaining to a certain extent, and a large number of shorts will turn to long. The market outlook says there is a possibility of testing to 12000. Investors need to pay attention to the effectiveness of the 11000 support and the 11400 resistance after the rebound starts. The price on the 26th moved below the three moving averages on the 5th, 10th, and 20th, and the price was relatively empty. If the 10-day moving average crosses the 20-day moving average, it will form a short position, which may trigger a further decline.
Operation suggestions:
Support level: the first support level is 11000 points, the second support level is 10400 integers;
Resistance level: the first resistance level is 11400 points, the second resistance level is 12000 points.
