When do you get a margin call trading futures?

I am very confused about how and when you would get a margin call from your broker about a futures trade.
Let's say I take a 1 contract long position on Dow Micro (for TD they require $748 in "initial margin"). Given that each tick is .50cent, does this mean that my account value will only reach zero if market goes down 1496 pts?
How does the fact this it is a leveraged instrument play into this calculation?
I called TD and they said they would take me out (perhaps a margin call) of the trade if I was going down to zero in account value, but I thought that with futures you could lose more $ than you put in, because of the leverage?
In the example above, if I'm long and the market goes down 1500 pts, do I just lose my initial $748, or do I owe TD a lot more? Thanks

Asking for comments on my small account trade plan!

August to December Trade Plan
Objectives
  1. Growing Account balance of $580 to $1000 by December 2020.
  2. Maintaining a “Set it and forget it” Process by setting Stop Losses and T/P’s to let them hit.
  3. Exposure to emotional regulation and the practice of only acting on a trade when the analysis of price action shows more than enough signs of profitability.
Trading Overview
Risk to Reward: A constant 1/3 R ratio.
Style: Day and Swing Trading. (Letting trades hit T/P or SL)
Hold Time: Until the trade is exited by SL or T/P
Primary Set-ups: Trend Trading strategies on newly formed trends based on Price Action strategy. “Top Down” trend analysis will be taken at the 1D and 1H Timeframe. Entering trades on the 15M at Fibonacci retracement levels of 38.20%, 50%, and 61.80. Then, Exiting trades below either the next level of resistance of the -27%, or -61.90% levels of the Fibb Retracement.
Secondary Setups: Trading Sideways setups. If a specific level of support or resistance is present. This will be used as an entry point for a trade exiting below the shown key level and existing under the profitable take-profit zone. It is worth mentioning that this trade will not be taken if the R cannot be 1/3 without restricting the SL so much that a Stop-Out is likely with movement.
Market Times and Pairs Selected:
2-6 trades will be made a day, but not exceeding more than 6 open trades to prevent margin recall. My margin is at 20% leverage so I will allow myself to maintain 6 open trades when risking low amounts of the account. As I increase the account risk I will lower the amount risked preventing margin call.
Trading New York Markets: All Major Pairs
Trading Aussie/ Tokyo: EUJPY, GBP/JPY, AUD/JPY
Drawdown % account balance strategy: At the moment of a drawdown of more than -20% I will decrease my lot sizes to match a 2% decrease of amounts risk in each trading setup for every -10% drawdown. Ranges of Account % risked will range between 1% (at worst drawdown times) and 6% in the instances that the drawdown has receded to -20% or less. This will be an attempt to prevent blowing the account.

Day Trading Margin Call Issue (WeBull)

Yesterday before close, I liquidated all positions and had a balance of $64,xxx. Last night, during after hours, I purchased shares of a stock to hold over night. I was not prompted that I was using Day Trade Buying Power, and had sufficient Overnight Buying Power to satisfy the purchase. This morning, I received a day trade margin call in the amount of the purchase. My questions are: 1) I currently have unsettled funds from trades, when those settle will that satisfy the margin call (assuming I make no other trades)? 2) Why did I not get a prompt that I was using Day Trade Buying Power? 3)Why did it use day trade buying power instead of overnight buying power?

Day trade margin call mess up.

So here's my story. I f-ed up a while back and was put in a day trade margin call (less than $25,000 + 4 day trades) on my margin account.
Today while trying to sell my 12 shares of TA I made a typo and wrote 13, selling 12 and short selling one. Panicking and not thinking I bought to cover―technically making another day trade―and locking me out of buying stock for 90 days.
My question is, would I be allowed to move my funds from my margin account to my non-margin account and forget about this?

Hi, this morning I lost $172k trading options on my $5k trading account. I was also hit with $46k margin call (Images inside)

Good Morning, Today I woke up around 5am bc a option spread I had placed was exercised against me.
This resulted in my owing ($172k) worth of Amazon stock. My trading account was only worth around 5k at the time.
Robin hood also hit me with a $46,278k margin maintenance call.

https://imgur.com/uJUTxKb
https://imgur.com/4S9RYOJ
edit*** I posted this in the main wallstreetbets daily but was asked to create it's own post, which is why it says deleted. I deleted the post because I was concerned staff at robinhood would find out I owe them almost 200k and do something to prevent me from trading again. I was also concerned that the US government would use this to prevent me from getting credit in the future, using a screening tool not disclosed to the public.
Update** Robinhood has not threatened to sue or take legal action against me yet if I do not pay. I informed them that I will use my $1k worth of CHEGG stock towards the margin call.
https://imgur.com/TCQvYGI
Update2** I have transferred $120USD to show robinhood I do intend to make small payments overtime. In case any lawsuit comes up. This combined with the $1k worth of CHEGG stock which robinhood THEMSELVES offered to accept is proof of my intention to make payments.
I will continue to update this in case this happens to any of you. So that you will be able to see the time-line of events and prevent this from happening again.
For those of you wondering - This was the notification I got early this morning. This was on top of the 170k.
https://imgur.com/Co8biSm
Update** After talking via email(robinhood won't contact you over the phone). Robinhood has given me the spread leg worth of Amazon stock to sell back to the market.
I have sold the stock back to the market and am now letting the opposite leg of the spread ride to see If I can make it back into a profitable position during power hour.
**Update if Amazon closes above $1,600USD I will be okay. If not I'll have to pay $2000USD to avoid a continued margin call
***Update Robinhood contacted me and was very helpful. I was assigned $ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS to pay. The broker actually gives you the opportunity to decide how you want to pay. This is called legging out instead of flatly closing both sides of the trade, which can be beneficial is some trading strategies.
This all started with a Yolo recommendation from another WSB redditor. Unfortunately, due the time I closed out of each leg I still lost roughly $2k.(I think I'm still not sure yet) Which is about 50% of my $5k account.
On Monday I will update everyone whether or not I'm still under a margin maintenance call. If not I should still have about $2k or $3k left. Anyone have any ideas for a good yolo?

Margin\leveraged trading question - Margin call\position liquidation

Hi,
I'm trading pretty small amounts of coins for some time now. I'm looking to get into margin trading, and Kraken's documentation confused me a little. I'd like to know for sure how "margin call" works.
Simply put question is: if my position will go down and margin call happens, am I risking any more monay than I have on my account?
